Privacy Policy
Tempo ("we", "our", or "us") is an iOS application that helps people with ADHD plan their day using voice input and AI scheduling. This Privacy Policy explains what information Tempo collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
We built Tempo with privacy as a first principle. We collect the minimum we need to make the app work, and we never sell your data.
1. Information We Access
Tempo requests access to the following on-device resources, each with your explicit permission:
- Microphone — to record your voice when you tap the brain-dump button.
- Speech Recognition — to convert your voice into text so it can be scheduled.
- Calendar (EventKit) — to read your existing events (for conflict detection) and write new events you've confirmed.
- Notifications — to remind you about upcoming events, with your permission.
Tempo does not collect your name, email, contacts, location, photos, or browsing history.
2. How Voice and Transcription Work
When you record a voice brain dump, audio is transcribed using Apple's Speech framework. The resulting text is then sent to our Firebase Cloud Function, which forwards it to Google's Vertex AI (Gemini) along with a list of your existing event titles and times for that day. This is used to schedule your tasks.
We do not send raw audio off your device. Only the transcribed text and minimal calendar context are sent to our server for processing.
3. Data Processing & AI
Tempo uses Google Vertex AI (Gemini) via Firebase Cloud Functions to generate scheduling suggestions. Data sent for processing is not used to train AI models and is subject to Google's enterprise data-handling terms. Transcriptions are processed in memory to produce a schedule response and are not persistently stored on our servers beyond standard transient logs used for debugging and abuse prevention.
4. Calendar Data
Your calendar is the source of truth. Tempo reads and writes events directly to Apple Calendar (EventKit) on your device. We do not maintain a cloud copy of your calendar. If you delete Tempo, any events it created remain in your Apple Calendar until you delete them yourself.
5. Subscription & Billing
Tempo offers optional paid subscriptions through Apple's App Store. Subscription management is handled via RevenueCat, which receives an anonymized user identifier so we can verify your subscription status across devices. We never see or store your payment information — that is handled entirely by Apple.
6. Analytics & Crash Reports
Tempo may use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand anonymous usage patterns and diagnose crashes. These tools collect non-identifying technical information such as device model, iOS version, and crash stack traces. They do not collect your voice, transcriptions, calendar content, or any personal information.
7. Data Retention
Because Tempo doesn't store your tasks or transcriptions on our servers, there is nothing to retain. Debugging logs, if any, are automatically rotated and deleted within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Tempo is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Revoke microphone, speech, calendar, or notification permission at any time from iOS Settings.
- Delete all Tempo data by uninstalling the app.
- Cancel your subscription from your Apple ID settings at any time.
- Request information about data processed about you by emailing support@fernanochoa.com.
10. Third-Party Services
Tempo relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Apple (iOS, EventKit, Speech framework, App Store)
- Google Firebase & Vertex AI (backend and AI)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
